Evo 2009 Championships were last night and let me tell you, it was AMAZING. Although I was not there in person I could feel the excitement passing through the UStream feed that Evo had setup for fans all around the world. I was watching every bit of action along with twenty thousand of my fellow Street Fighter fanatics, and that was just on UStream. Along with another four thousand people inside the convention center it was truly a night to remember. The evening played out like a Hollywood movie eventually with the two biggest and baddest Street Fighter players fighting for the Championship. Daigo “The Beast” Umehara fought his way up to the top of the Street Fighter IV finals all the while looking as cool as a cucumber. Already beaten once by Daigo, U.S Champion Justin Wong fought his way up the losers bracket to face Daigo for the Grand Prize.

I just want to say thanks to Evo for streaming this to everybody, it was truly a grand and epic tournament that I will never forget. Also outstanding commentary by Seth Killian and the other members of the panel, they really professionalized this tournament with insightful and wonderful commentary guiding everybody through all the excitement that is Evo. I also want to note how the players of these competitions carry themselves with class. Justin Wong and Daigo are both such great competitors that when it is all said and done, I feel like I am the winner of all of it.
